Eddie Chiou (a second-year medical student at the University of Washington) conducted cell culture experiments to elucidate the molecular basis of UV-induced lupus in the laboratories of Drs. Elkon and Kawasumi.

Masaoki, Eddie, and Daiki attended the University of Washington Dermatology Odland Lecture at the Seattle Tennis Club. Anthony E. Oro, MD, PhD (Professor of Dermatology, Stanford University) delivered a keynote speech “Tumor evolution and drug resistance in the Hedgehog pathway.”

SID Meeting in Portland

Masaoki and Daiki attended the 2017 Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID) Annual Meeting in Portland, Oregon and presented posters on UV carcinogenesis. Congratulations, Takeshi!

Takeshi Yanagishita, MD, PhD (Visiting Scholar) performed cell culture experiments and immunohistochemistry to investigate the effects of chronic UV irradiation on genetic and epigenetic alterations in skin cancer. He will go back to Aichi Medical University as a dermatologist.
